Area Medical Director

International SOS is seeking an experienced medical professional with a strong clinical background and management skills to be responsible for the medical delivery, quality and efficiency of all Medical Services sites, International SOS and IHMS clinics within the West Australian (WA) area of operations.

In addition the position supports the business development and account management activity within the region to maximize new and existing opportunities with a focus on the energy, mining and infrastructure (EMI) and government sectors. In particular this will revolve around major International mining company medical projects/consulting and services in WA, and similarly with the regional offshore Oil and gas developments. The position will provide strong technical support to Business Development Managers (BDM’s) in cross border opportunities and corporate and government support.

Medical Quality

  • Ensure that all operational delivery of medical services and patient care performed by medical and clinic support staff meet the appropriate standard of medical quality in accordance with International SOS operations guidelines.
  • Directly responsible to review and respond to any medical complaints which arise using the International SOS procedure guidelines in conjunction with the  relevant Regional Medical Director

Management and Administration

  • Maximize the profitability of the region with managing medical staffing costs related to the service delivery requirements and maximize the use of existing resources with the addition of new services.
  • Support the adequate resourcing of the medical services teams, with pro-active recruitment and retention strategies to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.

Client and Business Development

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the clients’ contractual agreements and work with the Sales and Marketing department to ensure that relationships with International SOS clients are at all times positive and consistent with the contractual obligations.
  • Manage effective relationships with the Sales and Marketing team regarding new and potential business to ensure availability of required resources and skill set within the delivery teams.

To be considered you must have:

  • Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Primary Care experience essential with experience in rural/remote setting and emergency care highly desirable.
  • FRACGP or FACRRM is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, business acumen and communication skills.
