The minimum requirements to become a Paramedic with Ambulance Tasmania are prescribed in the Ambulance Services Act 1982 (the Act).
The Act states that a person must hold a prescribed paramedic qualification or qualification and experience that the Commissioner of Ambulance Services is satisfied demonstrates a satisfactory level or understanding and competence in the areas of knowledge contained within a prescribed paramedic qualification.
The qualification prescribed for the purposes of the Act is a Bachelor of Paramedic Science. This qualification is prescribed in the Ambulance Service (Paramedic) Regulations 2014.
