If you’re looking for an exciting career in pre hospital emergency care, then joining the Army Reserves as a Combat Paramedic could be the perfect job for you.
As a a Combat Paramedic, you will provide pre-hospital emergency care, resuscitation, evacuation coordination and primary health care when necessary. This could be within an Army exercise or a disaster relief operation overseas. There are no limitations.

Typically they’re after exciting new ways to expand their knowledge and capabilities, whilst benefitting the broader community.
To hit the ground running as a Combat Paramedic, the Army asks that you posses a minimum of a Diploma of Paramedical Science or equivalent qualification and have evidence of appropriate experience (This could be your placement hours).
In addition to this you must be at least 17 years of age and an Australian Citizen (or hold Permanent Residency). Additional age, medical and fitness guidelines may also apply.
Once gaining entry as a reservist, you will be required to take a 35-day military training course in Wagga Wagga, NSW, plus a 2.5-day Combat Paramedic Course at a Unit level.
Upon completion, you will be expected to provide a minimum of 20 days service each year, which will most likely be at an Army unit close to where you live but may also involve interstate and overseas travel.

To get a job as a Combat Paramedic we recommend completing the HLT51015 – Diploma of Paramedical Science. This qualification provides a flexible and affordable pathway to joining the Australian Defence Force.
