How to Become a Paramedic in NSW through APC

Take Cheryl as a great example. Shortly after sending her third and final daughter off to university, at the prime age of 44, Cheryl decide it was time to pursue her own dreams. Without further ado, Cheryl enrolled in a Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) at the Australian Paramedical College, willing to do whatever it took to discover how to become a paramedic in NSW.

The wife of an Anglican minister, Cheryl has always served in her local church, caring for individuals in need, responding to at all hours of the day to provide counseling and much needed support.

Before her children came along, Cheryl worked in an aged care home caring as an assistant nurse, but always wanted make a difference where the real action was taking place – transporting patients to the hospital. Whenever the ambulance showed up after an elderly person took a bad turn, Cheryl would look on with great respect and a touch of jealousy as she saw the paramedics arrive and take charge of the situation.

It wasn’t long until Cheryl became a stay-at-home mum and those aspirations of becoming a paramedic seemed long gone. But she always served wherever she could and cared for people through out her many years at home taking care of the family and serving alongside her husband. In the back of her mind though, she always wanted to know how to become a paramedic in NSW – that was her ultimate goal that would never die.

Suddenly, with the departure of her last child to university and with the support of her husband Phil, the window of opportunity was opened. Cheryl became a great example to prove that age or circumstance should never stop you from achieving your dreams. Since completing her Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance), Cheryl became a fully qualified paramedic in NSW.

She has used her skills to serve on 3 mission trips to Papua New Guinea with a team from her local church. She is also 3 months away from graduating with a Bachelor in Paramedical Science and constantly striving to learn and grow in her budding paramedic career. Any chance she gets, she loves to share others how to become a paramedic in NSW, in the hopes that her story will inspire them.
