Meet our student Kacey who is from Geraldton in Western Australia, which is about 4 hours north of Perth. Kacey is passionate about outdoor adventure and sports as well as being focused on her volunteering work with St John Ambulance since 2013.
Preparing for a career in prehospital emergency health care has seen Kacey get to know people really well. She tells us about one time when she chatted with an elderly patient and felt the gratitude and appreciation just because Kacey cared.
This was the driving force behind Kacey deciding to take study for a nationally recognised prehospital emergency health care qualification on her way to becoming a registered Australian Paramedic.
Studying the HLT51015 – Diploma of Paramedical Science was the first stage of her career development. Kacey is also preparing to complete her Bachelor of Paramedic Science degree, which is a prerequisite to becoming a Paramedic in Australia.
Interestingly enough, Kacey has not studied since 2009 yet she found that doing the Diploma has helped her with time management, study skills which has allowed her to ease back into study and learn new skills.
One of the biggest challenges for Kacey and other students, is to study from home because of so many distractions, yet her resolute attitude and determined focus on the end goal, will get her where she wants to be.
Kacey echoes the APC company values of allowing students to embrace online study, to collaborate with one another, be adaptable and embrace the innovative learning environment offered by the college.
