We’re always amazed and moved by the sheer courage and tenacity of our students. Many of our paramedical students face their own personal challenges with life, yet they are great teachers for us all.
Listen to Jennifer tell her personal story of how she faced her daily challenges with Dyslexia head on. She smashed through them to study the Diploma of Paramedical Science at the Australian Paramedical College.
“I’m Jennifer Walker from Bega New South Wales on the far south coast. I’m currently doing the Diploma of Paramedical Science through the Australian Paramedical College. I’ve been doing it for about a year and a bit.
“My biggest concern about studying was because I’m dyslexic, I was worried whether I was going to be able to do it or not, whether I was going to get the correct support and everything like that from the trainers.
“But I’ve mentioned this to the trainers and everything and they’re fully behind me. If I’m stuck on something they’ll explain it in a different way for me to be able to understand it a lot more.
“I found the online learning really good. The trainers are absolutely fantastic. I’ve currently also got my Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance). I also did that with the Australian paramedical college here in Gold Coast.
“I wanted to do the Diploma of Paramedical Science because I wanted to make a difference, and I’ve wanted to do it for as long as I can remember. The Cert IV in Health Care has prepared me to be able to progress with the Diploma.
“My plans on the future with a Diploma – I plan to go to London. I would tell people if they’re in a similar situation to me is give it a go. Everyone is capable of anything they would like to do.
“You just have to put yourself out there and if you stuck, just ask for help because it is okay. APC’s a very good choice because the trainers and everything are fully experienced and everything, and they’re right behind you.
