Paramedic Courses

Build the skills, confidence, and real-world experience to work in emergency and patient care – or take the first step toward university-level paramedicine. Our nationally recognised paramedical courses are designed to prepare you for meaningful work in the private sector and, for many students, serve as a strong pathway into the Bachelor of Paramedic Science.

Understanding Paramedical Training vs Paramedic Degrees

Before choosing a course, it’s important to know the difference:

Bachelor of Paramedic Science (University) – the only qualification that qualifies you as a ‘Paramedic’.

To become a registered Paramedic in Australia, you must complete an accredited Bachelor of Paramedic Science / Bachelor of Paramedicine at university and register with AHPRA after graduation.

APC does not deliver this degree.

However, many future students start with a VET qualification – especially the HLT51020 Diploma of Emergency Health Care – to build foundational skills and improve their readiness for university entry.

APC Courses – Paramedical, not Paramedic

Our courses prepare you for paramedical and emergency healthcare roles in the private sector, including event medic, emergency response, emergency medical technician, and patient transport positions.

They do not qualify you to work as a registered Paramedic for a state ambulance service – but they are highly valued in the pre-hospital care industry and are widely used as a stepping stone toward university.

How APC courses support your university ambitions

Many universities across Australia and New Zealand:

  • consider VET qualifications – especially the Diploma – for entry,
  • recognise prior knowledge and experience,
  • may offer credit/RPL in certain cases (depending on the uni).

Starting with a VET qualification helps you:

✓ build confidence before tackling university-level science
✓ gain real clinical experience
✓ strengthen your application
✓ understand pre-hospital care before committing to a degree

APC graduates regularly progress into paramedicine degrees and perform strongly due to their practical grounding.

Where APC Courses Can Lead You (Non-Ambulance Pathways)

Our paramedical courses prepare you for careers such as:
