Our Industry Partnership

Australian Paramedical College (APC) partnered with DEVELOP in late 2023, offering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at their Woodlawn Copper-Zinc Project in NSW. 

This partnership means APC students can gain real-life experience alongside industry professionals in the mining sector before stepping into paid positions once graduated. APC is thrilled to offer our students such an incredible opportunity and help set them up for success as the resources industry continues to grow across Australia.

About DEVELOP – Woodlawn Copper-Zinc Project

The Woodlawn Zinc-Copper Project is a high-grade zinc-copper-lead-gold silver project in NSW. With a mission to “utilise the power of people to produce clean metals and help decarbonise the world”, APC graduate Darren Mills looks forward to facilitating Clinical Placement under his team’s direct supervision

Darren shared with APC, “The mining industry will develop your skills and knowledge and assist in maintaining your competencies through ongoing training with our Emergency Response Team.”

Jobs boom in mining

It is estimated that employment within the mining sector is projected to grow by 5.9% over five years to November 2023.

Further to this, female participation in mining employment has reached record levels in February 2022 which is fantastic to see.**

APC is committed to creating real career outcomes for our students, which means ensuring they are getting quality experience while they study. This industry partnership does just that. 

Not only can students working directly within the mining sector during their studies, APC can also be provided with industry updates from the DEVELOP team directly as to how we can equip students for careers as Medical Emergency Services Officers (MESOs), Emergency Services Officers (ESOs) or similar should this be their preferred pathway. 

Direct feedback from DEVELOP supervisors have informed APC that our students are ‘very educated in this field’ and easily employable.
