Career Pathways
There are various job pathways available to qualified APC graduates.
You could become a Patient Transport Officer (PTO), Emergency Services Officer (ESO) or start your journey towards becoming a Paramedic. University Pathways
If you’re wishing to become a Paramedic, studying the HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care first is as a popular choice for many individuals.
This pathway allows you to build up your practical skills and medical knowledge, not to mention qualify you, so you’re able to get a job in healthcare before applying for university. The best part is your ATAR doesn’t matter!
As a Victorian student, Victoria University accepts VET Entry and have RPL available so when the time comes to apply for university, be sure to check if you’re eligible. You can learn more here or alternatively, feel free to check out some FAQs to help better understand your options.

Rhiannon Gallatly | Qualified PTO onto University
Meet Rhiannon, APC Graduate and now in her final semester at Victoria University studying a bachelors degree to become a paramedic.
APC was pivotal in starting Rhiannon’s healthcare journey as she completed her HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care before going on to get a job as a Patient Transport Officer (PTO) with St John Ambulance Victoria. Since then, Rhiannon has gone from strength to strength as she’s close to finishing her university degree too! “The Cert IV helped strengthen the application [for university]”, she shared.

Jessica Vojtek | Melbourne
Meet Jess, now working as an Advanced Medic – thanks to APC! She first joined APC to study the HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care but soon realised how much she loved health care and decided to “level up”.
Going on to complete her Diploma of Paramedical Science (now called the HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care), Jess rated her study experience with APC very highly, exclaiming “It was well beyond her expectations for an online course program!“
