Course Details

Completing the qualification is achievable by studying about 90%  of it online; so you can study whenever and wherever you want to. A complete set of learning material is available online – there are no extra expenses buying books, nor are there any additional fees for marking assessments.
It’s quite possible to complete the course in 6-12 months. This includes attending a practical assessment at one of our pre-hospital emergency training centres on the Gold Coast or in Sydney.

Clinical Skills Development

The Cert IV will give you advanced knowledge of Drug therapy protocols (DTP’s) ; including adrenaline, glucose gel, glucagon, basic cardiac drugs, naloxone, basic pain relief (Skills, Protocols and Pharmacology equivalent to the level – Intern Paramedic Ambulance Service NSW)
You will also learn about airway management, an introduction to 4 lead ECG monitoring and automatic defibrillation, intramuscular injections, oxygen therapies (including nebulised medications), BLS resuscitation and pharmacology.
Using clinical reasoning, to develop treatment plans for ill and injured patients, this extensive training will allow you to become proficient at primary and secondary patient assessments.

Entry Requirements

Being an existing emergency services worker is a distinct advantage because of the knowledge already gained in areas of WHS, communication and legal processes. The College encourages experienced EMS personnel to apply; as there could also be opportunities to RPL and credit transfer – reducing the study completion time.
