HLT41012 – Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance)

Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) is an entry level paramedic career qualification. At the Certificate IV level, you’ll learn basic life support skills needed to work in pre-hospital emergency care as BLS (Basic Life Support) Paramedic.
The HLT41012 qualification builds the necessary foundational skills required of pre-hospital care paramedics. If you want to enhance your skills through training, this certificate provides the necessary pre-requisites to advance up the clinical ladder to a Diploma in Paramedical Science (advanced life support).
This course is accredited with The Australian Skills Quality Authority ASQA and builds strong foundation skills and knowledge allowing you to treat patients effectively.

About the Cert IV Health Care course

During this course you will gain the skills to diagnose patient symptoms, establish treatment and provide the necessary support until additional assistance is required. In such cases where additional support is not required, you will be responsible for transporting the patient to hospital.


To achieve this qualification it requires the completion of 19 units of competency.


This is a mixed learning course by correspondence, practical and online learning.

Practical workshops

The Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) has a practical component to it, which is held on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The College does everything it can to assist students make the practical component of the course stress-free, including being able to recommend affordable accommodation close to the training rooms.
